The OC Fair

Last night I went to the Orange County Fair with my parents. I love going to the fair, mostly to see all the cute animals, but also to eat junk food. I do enjoy the rides at the fair but those I had to pass on being pregnant and all. But I still had a great time! The best part of the fair had to be the baby piggies.. I don't know if it's because I'm getting ready to have a baby that everything in baby form just melts my heart but these little guys are just too cute! I wanted to take one home with me!

Something else I had at the fair that my moms boss talked about all night was deep-fried butter! How gross does that sound? She had been talking about it all night and finally right before we left we found the deep-fried butter stand. It's not actually just deep-fried plain butter, it's like a churro that is really buttery and soft. It was really good. I only had a small bite since the thing had clogged artery written all over it but it was pretty good.

Curtis is online!

My husband Curtis has his own blog/journal type thing that he writes in often. It is pretty much a public journal that he writes in and is free for anyone to read! So check it out here!

Family Night at the Beach!

Last night for family night my family all got together for a bonfire at the beach. We got together mostly because my Cousin Katie, her husband Tanner, and two kids are moving this week to Oregon and then to China for work. So it was kind of like a little going away party for them! It was fun to be with family, eat hot dogs, and roast marshmallows!

HOT DOG!!

Everyone roasting their marshmallows!

Notice that even though Collin already has two marshmallows in his mouth he is roasting another! haha

Grandpa and Tanner, it was pretty cool and overcast! Weird for the end of July!!

Kris turns 33!

Sunday was my brother-in-law, Kris' 33rd birthday! So everyone came over for an amazing dinner! My mom sure knows how to decorate! My grandma brought over a flower and she grew in her backyard. It's a flower that grows in Nauvoo. She brought the seed home with her and now grows it in her back yard! So beautiful!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRIS!!

2:14am..

..and I cannot get comfortable in bed. So I'm attempting to get out of bed to hopefully make myself so tired that when I get back in bed I'll be so tired that I'll fall asleep despite my lack of being comfortable..
Wish me luck!

I've had better days..

I'm not sure what it is about today but I have been feeling down all day and I can't seem to pull myself out of it. I've cried I think 5 different times today for no good reason. I've been trying to pull myself out of this funk all day and have been unsuccessful. So I decided that just like my father-in-law and Curtis have done I am going to make a simple list of things that make me happy. So here I go...

  • Happy music
  • Church
  • Reading a really good book
  • The fact that I'll be back with Curtis 4 weeks from today!!
  • My family (Garlocks & Dutys)
  • Being tan
  • Hanging out with Nicole and Carter all day
  • When Brooklynn moves
  • When Curtis laughs at something he thinks is really funny
  • Swimming
  • Having a clean room
  • Doing laundry (weird I know)
  • Food
  • Diet Coke, although that has been something I barely ever have
  • Thinking about how Curtis and I are starting a family of our own
  • Reading talks by President Monson (I just read every talk he's given in General Conference over the past 5 years and I feel like I know him! He tells such great stories.)
  • Laughing REALLY hard

Those are a few things and there a million other things that make me happy but those are a few for now! But really thinking that I only have 4 weeks left without Curtis makes me so happy! I have a feeling these are going to be the longest 4 weeks of my life!! ahh!!!

Bass Lake 2010

Alright, so I didn't blog every day at Bass Lake like I wanted to so here is my post with everything about Bass Lake and a million pictures to go with it! Bass Lake was so much fun, as it always is. Even though it was a little different for me since I could not go wake boarding or tubing, but like I always say, it is a very small price to pay for what I am getting in return! Plus, there is always next year! So this year I took a lot of pictures and talked to a lot of people. It's so much fun to catch up with all of my cousins and see what is going on in their lives. It is also nice to see all of their kids that I don't get to see that often.

The sleeping arrangements are always tight since we have a pretty big family, so since Curtis wasn't there I slept on an air mattress on the floor of the room my parents were in. Being 7 months pregnant and sleeping on an air mattress doesn't make for great sleep. But I was prepared to be uncomfortable so I was ready. What I wasn't prepared for was my Dad's horrible snoring! I didn't get much sleep but I still had a great time!

Once every week my mom, Janice, and I (and Ashley if she's there but she wasn't) go into town and go to this cute little shop called Frameworks. They have a lot of different random things from candles to furniture. We always get a few souvenirs. This year I got one thing which was a really soft stuffed animal dog for Brooklynn. I think she's going to love it. :) While checking out my mom and sister can never pass up the caramel chocolate candy. They look forward to them every year. I don't really like candy so I have never had them but apparently they are amazing!!

So the rest of the week was filled with fishing, laying out, swimming, playing games, and spending time with family! The only thing missing was Curtis and he was VERY missed!

I told you I had a million pictures so here they are! I'll explain a few as they go down although some are pretty self explanatory.  Here we go...
Carson is not the best eater.. so whatever it takes to get him to eat we are all okay with.

This is pretty much what Hedrix wore all week and I am in love with it!

Papa taking some time to relax!

This is the cabin from the dock.

Grandpa always has a project going on.

How cute is this boy?? man.

My ride on the boat.. I look really awkward because I'm sitting on my foot in case we hit any bumps so I could cushion it. I'm not trying to go into labor at 28 weeks...

They loved playing with their cousins!

Hanging out with Kris and Hendrix at the relaxation station!

Hendrix thought the boat ride was loud.

The picture below this one is a better picture but I love all their different faces in this one! So funny!

My cute boys! I love my nephews!

My dad felt that Brooklynn needed a picture at Bass Lake. haha

My mom and dad. :)

Grandma and Grandpa. I'm pretty sure they have been coming every summer for OVER 40 years!

Everyone in our I love Bass Lake T-shirts!

A present for Grandma and Grandpa!

Their great grandchildren!

The oldest and the youngest sons!

So that's was Bass Lake this year. I am so thankful to have grandparents who have made so many traditions for my family. It keeps our family close and I am so thankful for that! They are amazing and so is my family! Until next year...
